MTC wins five prizes at 2026 Brand Africa Awards

The Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) walked away with five prizes at the 16th annual Brand Africa Awards hosted in Windhoek on Wednesday, including the top prize for social impact and sustainability.

Marking the seventh edition of Namibia’s participation in the continent’s brand research, the annual event brought together business leaders from across the continent to recognise Africa’s most trusted and valuable brands, as well as local enterprises.

Alongside the company-wide achievements, MTC chief of brand, marketing, communications and sustainability Tim Ekandjo was named Africa’s most influential chief marketing officer.

Speaking after the ceremony, Ekandjo dedicated the wins to the public, stating that the accolades ultimately represent “the Namibian story” rather than just the firm itself. He added that the country’s local communities and customers remain the true driving force behind the business.

“Namibia wins where it has the infrastructure, as MTC’s grand prix and Windhoek Beer’s number one position demonstrates,” says founder and chairman of Brand Africa Thebe Ikalafeng. “They are the result of brands that have been built with discipline, purpose and a deep understanding of the Namibian consumer.”

The Brand Africa Awards focus on celebrating corporate leadership, innovation and digital inclusion. MTC’s performance at this year’s event highlighted its growing influence both at home in Namibia and within the wider continental telecom sector.
