A nationwide talent identification initiative by History Talent Agency in partnership with Nestor Chikoti Studios is calling on Malawians from all districts, including remote communities, to showcase their creative abilities regardless of experience or access to professional resources.
The initiative seeks to discover first-time talent in film and visual storytelling by encouraging aspiring creatives to submit simple videos demonstrating their abilities.

In a statement, organisers said the programme is focused on identifying raw and natural talent rather than polished productions.
“We are not looking for perfection. We are looking for talent in its most natural form whether that is acting, directing, storytelling or creating content. Even if you are in a remote area, find someone with a phone and record yourself. What matters is your ability, not the equipment,” reads part of the statement.
The organisers said the opportunity is open to aspiring actors, directors, videographers, content creators, cultural dancers and traditional storytellers who have never worked in film but possess strong creative instincts and passion.
Applicants are expected to submit videos showing themselves performing, directing scenes, narrating stories or expressing cultural art forms.
According to the agency, the programme is strictly a talent identification and development initiative and does not guarantee employment.
Selected participants may, however, be invited to take part in training sessions, auditions and skills development activities aimed at preparing them for opportunities within the country’s growing film industry.
The agency said the initiative aligns with broader community development objectives such as youth empowerment, skills development and cultural preservation.
By targeting grassroots talent, particularly from underserved and rural communities, organisers say the programme aims to widen access to opportunities in the creative sector.
The organisers further said the initiative is being conducted within professional and regulatory frameworks to ensure transparency and responsible engagement with participants.
The programme also draws international creative expertise through the involvement of a German creative lead attached to the agency.
As Malawi’s creative industry continues to expand, the initiative seeks to bridge the gap between undiscovered talent and structured industry opportunities without imposing financial barriers on participants.
Interested individuals are required to submit a short introduction and a video demonstrating their talent through the agency’s email address, historytalent@gmail.com.
