*Tension between Nick Cannon and former “Wild ‘n Out” cast member Karlous Miller has resurfaced after comments made during a recent podcast interview sparked fresh backlash online.
During a recent sit-down on Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast, Cannon addressed long-standing rumors that he was responsible for Miller’s exit from the comedy series. According to The Root, Miller had been dropped after season 12 in 2018, though fan pressure eventually brought him back as a recurring cast member the following season. Cannon was direct in deflecting responsibility, pointing instead to Miller’s unfiltered personality on set and his agent’s push for higher pay as contributing factors.
“I didn’t fire Karlous! Them people did. Probably more of what it was — because Karlous is Karlous all the time — he was like ‘Nick, these motherf*ckas ain’t funny!’ And he would be making people uncomfortable,” Cannon explained.
Karlous Miller “drama” includes asking to be paid correctly, to stop giving writing credits to muhfuckas who ain’t wrote shit for nobody, and to be paid for all the shows that are being used as monetized content on social media. Cannon also described the show’s overall cast structure as flexible, insisting the door has always been open for talent to return. “It’s an open-door policy. And so, we played it up where he was like ‘ahh Nick fired me!’ And I was like ‘ah, alright I did!’ But I had nothing to do with it. But in that sense, I damn sure made sure Karlous was back,” he added.
Miller saw things differently. Taking to X/Twitter after the interview circulated, he pushed back on Cannon’s version of events. “That’s right. He don’t fire nobody, he gets them other mfs to do it and act like he don’t know shit about it,” Miller wrote.
He expanded his position across two follow-up posts, reframing the conflict as a labor dispute rather than personal drama. “Karlous Miller ‘drama’ includes asking to be paid correctly, to stop giving writing credits to muhfu*kas who ain’t wrote sh*t for nobody, and to be paid for all the shows that are being used as monetized content on social media. When they can’t use you and exploit you, you’re the problem,” he wrote.
Miller made clear he had no interest in conflict, stating that fair payment was all it would take to resolve things.
