Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. hosting Omega Serice for Rev. Jesse Jackson

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is honoring their late fraternity brother, civil rights icon Rev. Jesse Jackson, with an Omega Service.

The private service is being hosted by the Talented Tenth District of the fraternity and will take place on March 5 in Chicago. The Omega memorial service is a formal service held to honor deceased fraternity brothers.

Jackson was initiated into Omega Psi Phi in Spring 1960 joining through the Pi Psi Chapter at North Carolina A&T State University where Jackson elected Second Vice Grand Basileus.

“He is not only a public figure, but a son of Omega, one whose life demonstrates what it means to lead with mission and to stand as a living symbol of action,” the fraternity said in a statement.

Omega Psi Phi was fourth Black greek letter organization founded at Howard University in 1911. The fraternity has chartered over 750 undergraduate and graduate chapters and has over 250,000 members.
