Helen Zille has once again shown her unwavering support for Orlando Pirates on social media ahead of their Soweto Derby clash against Kaizer Chiefs.
The soccer rivals will face off on Sunday, 26 April at the FNB Stadium.
HELEN ZILLE GETS LOVE FROM ORLANDO PIRATES
On her social media platforms, Helen Zille revealed that she’d purchased her new Orlando Pirates shirt ahead of the Soweto Derby clash.
The 75-year-old former Democratic Alliance leader – who is now gunning for the position of Johannesburg mayor – posed for pics with a few of the club’s players.
She also mingled with excited fans.
“Looking forward to the Soweto Derby on Sunday”, she shared.
Helen’s post comes after she revealed that she’d been gifted a vintage Orlando Pirates jersey.
The black-and-white-framed jersey featured the signatures of players who had won the African Cup of Champions Clubs [now the CAF Champions League] in 1995.
At the time, the Buccaneers beat the SEC Mimosas of Ivory Coast to clinch the title.
Helen hinted that she would likely sell the Orlando Pirates jersey to raise money for residents of a nursing home she had visited.
She said: “This is a very valuable shirt with all those legendary players who then went on to be the spine of the Bafana Bafana team that won the AFCON (in 1996)”.

RUGBY TOO!
A day before the Soweto Derby, Helen Zille watched another popular sporting fixture – a rugby game between the Lions and the Irish team Connacht.
As Joburg’s mayoral candidate, Helen proudly backs the province’s team, who beat the visiting side 33 -21.
She’s previously voiced her support for the Western Cape Stormers.
