NAIROBI: PRIME Minister Mwigulu Nchemba has called on development partners to align their priorities with Africa’s agenda to accelerate sustainable development across the continent.
The Prime Minister made the statement when representing President Samia Suluhu Hassan at a panel discussion on agricultural sector development at the Africa-France Partnership Summit held in Nairobi, Kenya, from May 11 to 12, noting that Africa must shift from prolonged discussions on capacity building to investing in infrastructure that can drive the continent’s economic ambitions.
According to the Premier, much time has been spent discussing capacity building instead of building the infrastructure that will enable African countries and the continent to effectively drive their own development agenda.

Additionally, he also stressed the need for stronger cooperation in technology transfer and the adoption of modern agricultural systems to boost productivity and industrial growth.
“We expect cooperation in technology transfer, including the advancement of modern farming tools, extension services and digital systems. This is no longer the time to export raw materials abroad; our focus must now shift towards value addition,” he said.
