(AURN News) — A new national poll paints a stark picture of where Black America stands heading into the 2026 midterms.
The numbers tell a story of frustration, economic pain and a community fired up but not yet fully mobilized.
According to the latest Emerson College poll, Trump’s approval rating sits at just 39%, with Democrats holding a 10-point lead on the congressional ballot.
But beneath those numbers, something deeper is unfolding in Black communities.
The Black unemployment rate has reached 7.5%, the highest since 2021, and more than 300,000 Black women left the workforce in the first half of the year alone as tariffs and inflation continue to drive up the cost of living.
A major new study finds 59% of Black voters say Trump’s policies have hurt them personally, up from 47% a year ago.
And with the Supreme Court gutting key Voting Rights Act protections, Black America is watching.
The question heading into November is: Will the frustration turn into votes?
