Rihanna Takes Kids RZA, Riot and Rocki To Visit ‘Rihanna Drive’ in Barbados: ‘Trippy How Life Works’
The singer has been in her home country of Barbados for Carnival and she shared a glimpse of where she grew up with her children.
You can go home again, and Rihanna did go home again this month to celebrate the annual Crop Over Festival in her native Barbados. And while she was there, she took her three children with longtime partner A$AP Rocky — RZA, 4, Riot, 3 and Rocki, 10 months — to visit the road named in her honor.
“one minute I feel like that kid from Westbury…the next minute I’m bringing my own kids back to ‘Rihanna Drive,'” the singer wrote in an Instagram post on Tuesday (Aug. 11) featuring a rare glimpse at the faces of the couple’s little ones. In the snap, oldest brother RZA is playing it cool in blue sunglasses and a burgundy Spider-Man T-shirt and white shorts, while Riot holds her mom’s hand, rocking jean shorts and a striped shirt. Meanwhile, Rocki is secure in RihRih’s arms, grabbing a fistful of her mom’s hair while wearing a bright red shorts and shirt set.
“Trippy how life works! And the Glory STILL and WILL ALWAYS belong to the Almighty Creator!!!,” Rihanna, 38, added. In another shot, Rihanna cradles both Rocki and Riot as she bends down to show them a commemorative plaque on the ground featuring her name underneath a drawing of the sun. There is also a short video of Rihanna crouching down with all three huddled around her as they take family snaps near the plaque.
The street and memorial were established in 2017, letting locals and visitors visit the colorful home that Rihanna (born Robyn Rihanna Fenty) grew up in in the suburbs of Bridgetown, with the old Westbury New Road renamed Rihanna Drive.
The family has made the most of their visit, with Rihanna continuing her tradition of doing the most when it comes to dressing up in traditional attire for the annual Crop Over festival. This year’s event took place from July 4-Aug. 3, culminating with the Grand Kadooment Day Parade on Aug. 3, in which RihRih marched in a wildly colorful, elaborate costume covered in jewels, sparkles and bright, peacock-colored feathers. She walked, danced and mingled during the parade, blowing kisses to fans along the way and then ditching her towering headpiece for a more modest to party on a float as she waved to fans.
