ON February 6 at approximately 5:23 p.m., Abbotsford Police patrol officers responded to a report of a bank robbery in the 2100-block of Sumas Way. A man entered the bank, demanded money, and fled in a waiting truck after obtaining cash. No injuries were reported.

Abbotsford Police’s Major Crime Unit (MCU) immediately assumed conduct of the investigation. Over the following weeks, detectives gathered additional evidence, which led them across the Lower Mainland and helped identify two suspects.

On March 10, MCU detectives arrested two men in connection with the robbery. A search warrant was also executed at a residence in the 44000-block of Malcolm Road in Lake Errock.

Robbery charges have now been approved against 54-year-old Gordon Slater and 57-year-old Brian Knutson, with an additional disguise with intent charge approved against Slater.

Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact the Abbotsford Police’s Major Crime Unit at 604-859-5225.
