Women leaders gather in China to strengthen new media skills, global cooperation

Organised by China Women’s University, the seminar seeks to equip women with practical knowledge and skills in modern media technologies, digital communication, public policy communication, innovation and entrepreneurship while promoting international cooperation and cultural exchange. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice President of China Women’s University, Ms. Xue Xiaoli, described the training as a timely initiative as the world undergoes rapid technological and social transformation. “Enhancing women’s capacity is more important than ever. This seminar is a key initiative to empower women through education and skills development,” she said. Ms. Xue highlighted China’s achievements in advancing gender equality, noting that women’s access to education, employment, healthcare and economic opportunities has significantly improved over the years. “Women play an important role in business, e-commerce and national development. We believe that every woman deserves equal opportunity to achieve her potential,” she stated. She encouraged participants to make full use of the opportunity to learn from China’s development experience and strengthen cooperation among women leaders from different regions of the world. “We hope all participants will learn a lot during their stay in China, witness the country’s development achievements and work hand in hand for the benefit of humanity,” she added. Also addressing the gathering was Ms. Ravza Kavakcı Kan, former Member of Parliament of Türkiye’s Justice and Development Party (AK Party), who urged women to continue breaking barriers and pursuing leadership roles. She encouraged participants to use the workshop as a platform for personal and professional growth while inspiring future generations. “Women are among the strongest forces for positive change in society. When we empower one another, we all rise together. Continue to shine, take leadership roles and inspire your sons and daughters to work even harder for a better future,” she said. Established in 1949 and affiliated with the All-China Women’s Federation, China Women’s University is one of China’s leading institutions dedicated to women’s education, leadership and professional development. The university has become a major international training hub, having organised 44 capacity-building seminars since 2013 and trained more than 1,400 officials and professionals from 101 countries and two international organisations. The workshop will focus on the development and application of new media technologies, female leadership, communication competence, social media engagement and the growing role of digital platforms in economic development and international cooperation. Participants will also attend lectures on China’s development journey, governance system, the Belt and Road Initiative, gender equality policies and international development cooperation. In addition to classroom sessions, participants will undertake study tours and field visits to Changsha and Ningxiang cities in Hunan Province, where they will engage with local communities, women’s organisations and development institutions to gain firsthand insight into China’s social and economic transformation. The two-week programme is expected to deepen participants’ understanding of emerging media trends while strengthening global partnerships among women leaders committed to sustainable development and social progress.
