THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has identified the three people who drowned in the Budiriro 3 area and confirmed the arrest of four City of Harare (CoH) employees over the incident.
In a statement released Friday national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi identified the victims as Saul Karakadzai (19), a male, Talita Munda (17) a female and Vimbanashe Shalom Chihota, a male, all of New Stands, Budiriro 3 Extension, Harare.
ZRP extended condolences to the bereaved families.
Following the incident, police arrested four council employees believed to be responsible for the maintenance and safety of the infrastructure where the drowning occurred.
“ZRP confirms the arrest of four Harare City Council officials, Engineer Tapiwa Richard Kunyadini (58), Moses Dicko (57), Thomas Rwakatiwana (52) and Tineyi Chihwai (41) for negligently causing the death of the three victims through their actions of ommission and commission leading to the tragic incident,” Nyathi said.
The suspects are expected to appear soon before the Harare Magistrates’ Court.
