ABBOTSFORD Police are advising the public of a recent trend involving thefts from shopping carts while grocery shopping after receving three separate reports where purses or wallets were stolen after being briefly left unattended in shopping carts while the victim was distracted selecting items from store shelves.
In each incident, an unknown person removed the wallet or purse, and the victim’s credit and debit cards were subsequently used at other locations.
Abbotsford Police are reminding everyone to keep purses and wallets with themselves at all times and never leave them unattended—even for a brief moment—in public spaces.
Shoppers are encouraged to report any suspicious behaviour immediately to store staff and police. If you believe you have been a victim of theft, report it as soon as possible.
