Angela Renee, also known as Angela Simmons, stopped by The Breakfast Club on Thursday, March 12, to promote her upcoming debut single, “Run To,” dropping this Friday. She’s expanding her creative endeavors into music and stepping into a new space—spoken word.
During the interview, Angela also spoke about her decision to drop the household name ‘Simmons.’ She explained, “I just feel like Angela Renee is a different part of me. Like, more deep, more different conversations than just what you see as Angela Simmons. I’ll be sharing more—it’s a different part of me. There’s Angela Simmons, The MOM, Angela Simmons The ENTREPRENEUR, and then there’s the CREATIVE ARTIST, Angela Renee.”
Angela opened up about her journey, revealing that this project started during a time of meditation and healing. The record, featuring Jadakiss, is part of a larger creative project that will include other artists.
“It’s about passion, expression, creativity..just doing what I want to do and not letting people put me in a box.”

Even though she comes from a family with deep musical roots, she admits that she never really thought about doing music until now.
She briefly addressed her very public split from rapper and record executive Yo Gotti, noting that she’s focused on growth and alignment. When asked whether she’d ever “spin the block,” Angela smiled and said that she’s not the never-say-never type, but that she wants what God has for her—and we completely understand. She also revealed that she’s currently dating.
Honestly, I respect what she’s doing, and she speaks so confidently about this new chapter in her artistic journey. For years, Angela has been working to define herself beyond her family’s legacy, and this new era as Angela Renee feels like a bold, authentic move. She is doing it HER WAY.
