If you’re flying Avianca through Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, you’ll want to double-check your terminal before heading to the airport.
Beginning June 29, the airline is relocating all of its operations to Terminal 4, a move designed to support its growing flight schedule in South Florida while making connections between the United States and Latin America more efficient.
It’s the latest move for an airline that has been steadily ramping up its operations in the broader Caribbean region.
The first departure from the new location will be Avianca’s flight from Fort Lauderdale to Bogotá on Monday, June 29.
A Bigger Home at Fort Lauderdale
The move gives Avianca a larger operating footprint at one of Florida’s busiest international gateways.
According to the airline, Terminal 4 will provide additional room for future growth while improving passenger flow and streamlining airport operations. International travelers will also benefit from direct access to U.S. Customs and Border Protection facilities located within the terminal.
The relocation is being carried out in coordination with Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and the Broward County Aviation Department.
South Florida Continues to Grow
Fort Lauderdale has become one of Avianca’s most important U.S. gateways, particularly for travelers heading to Colombia and destinations throughout Latin America.
The airline currently operates more than 400 weekly flights between the United States and its international network.
From the United States, Avianca serves gateways including Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Boston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, along with seasonal service to Las Vegas.
Through its hubs, passengers can continue to more than 80 destinations across Latin America and Europe.
What Travelers Should Know
Anyone traveling on Avianca from Fort Lauderdale after June 29 should plan to check in and depart from Terminal 4.
The airline says it is updating its reservation systems, airport signage, digital channels and customer information platforms to reflect the change.
Passengers are encouraged to verify their terminal before arriving at the airport through the Avianca app, the airline’s website or Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport’s official passenger information channels.
