Belize wakes up to a wet and unsettled Friday as showers and thunderstorms spread across the country today

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Belizeans can expect another wet day as moist and unstable conditions continue to affect the country, according to the Belize National Meteorological Service.

Forecaster Crystal Rosalez says skies will be mostly cloudy today with a few sunny breaks. Scattered showers, thunderstorms, and periods of light to moderate rain are expected across the country throughout the day.

Tonight, most of the shower and rain activity is expected to concentrate over southern and coastal areas.

Daytime temperatures are forecast to reach 91 degrees Fahrenheit inland, 87 degrees along the coast, and 82 degrees in the hills.

At sea, a Small Craft Caution remains in effect. East-southeast winds of 10 to 20 knots will generate moderate sea conditions with waves between 4 and 6 feet. Boaters are being advised to exercise caution, as gusty winds and rough seas may develop near heavy showers and thunderstorms.

High tide occurred at 8:09 a.m. today, with low tide expected at 3:42 p.m. and another high tide at 9:53 p.m. Sunset is at 6:22 p.m.

Looking ahead to Saturday, generally cloudy conditions will persist with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms developing mainly over northern districts during the day before shifting southward and along coastal areas Saturday night.

The unsettled weather pattern is expected to continue into the weekend.

The forecast was issued by Crystal Rosalez of the Belize National Meteorological Service.
