Norton’s Bright Stars Football Academy were Saturday crowned champions of the Total U11 Future Stars Cup after edging hosts, Total Football Academy 1– 0 in the final match.

The tournament brought together twelve junior football academies in a celebration of grassroots football and the development of young talent.

The teams were divided into three groups: Group A featured BN Trust, Cranbourne, Jadel, and Brightness; Group B had Total Football Academy, FC Porto, Real Stars, and Effenberg; and Group C consisted of Aces, Legends, Bright Stars, and Family Soccer Academy.

After competitive group matches, the top teams from each group, together with the runner-up, advanced to the semi-finals.

In the first semi-final, Bright Stars defeated Jadel 2–0 to book their place in the final.

The second semi-final between Total Football Academy and Cranbourne ended goalless, with Total winning 2–1 on penalties to progress.

The third-place playoff saw Cranbourne and Jadel draw 1–1, with Cranbourne securing third place after winning 3–2 on penalties.

The final proved to be a tightly contested affair as Bright Stars edged Total Football Academy 1–0 to lift the Total U11 Future Stars Cup.

Bright Stars Football Academy walked away with the championship trophy, while Total Football Academy finished second and Cranbourne Academy claimed third place.

Gerald Mudzingwa of Total Football Academy and David Dombo of Bright Stars were named Goalkeepers of the Tournament.

The Top Goal Scorer award was shared by Mufaro Moyana of Cranbourne and Gerald Murondida of Bright Stars, who both scored three goals.

Junior Sirazi of Jadel was named the Most Exciting Player, while Hope Muchanayo of Bright Stars scooped the Player of the Tournament accolade.

Bright Stars’ mentor Cephas Bhobho was also recognised for his leadership after being named Coach of the Tournament.

Total Football Academy Director Tatenda Madzingo said the tournament had exceeded expectations.

“The tournament was a huge success. We saw great talent from the young players and the atmosphere was fantastic for families and the community,” said Madzingo.

He extended appreciation to the organisations that supported the event.

“We would like to sincerely thank our main sponsor Chicken House as well as L A Insurance and the National Aids Council, for their support in making this tournament possible.”

The tournament also offered a lively family entertainment atmosphere with a jumping castle for children, music and food supplied by Chicken House and a live performance by Ngwere Diki.

Madzingo said the success of the tournament has motivated the organisers to continue creating platforms for young players.

“The success of this tournament has energised us to organise more tournaments, with the Under-15 tournament scheduled for May 2, 2026,” he said.

He also called upon the corporate world and individuals to support youth football development initiatives.

“We invite companies and individuals to join hands with Total Football Academy in providing platforms like these for youngsters to showcase their talent and develop their potential.”

The Total U11 Future Stars Cup highlighted the growing passion for grassroots football and the importance of nurturing young talent at an early age.
