DR Congo head into the second match at the Fifa World Cup 2026 against Colombia at the Estadio Guadalajara targeting first three points in their world cup history.

The Leopards earned their maiden point by holding favourites in Group K, Portugal in a 1-1 draw when Yoane Wissa scored a leveller to cancel out Joao Neves early opener.

Colombia were the only winners on match round one in the group edging Uzbekistan 3-1 and a win against Sebastien Desabre’s men will secure them a place in the knock out phase.

Luiz Diaz will be the key man for Colombia alongside experienced James Rodriguez.

For DR Congo, whose defensive masterclass has seen them shutout several teams under Desabre, Chancel Mbemba, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Axel Tuanzebe remain key.

Wissa and Bakambu will carry the attacking burden at the other end of the pitch, with Wissa putting a difficult debut season at Newcastle United behind him to score his nation’s first World Cup goal.

In the same group, Ronaldo and Portugal target redemption against lowly ranked Uzbekistan at 8pm.
