Eastern Caribbean students to test investment skills in regional competition

Students from across the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union will take part in a simulated investment competition this October and November, as organisers seek to build young people’s understanding of the region’s securities market.
The Eastern Caribbean Securities Exchange (ECSE) announced on Monday that it will host the fourth annual Trevor E. Blake Regional Schools Investment Competition with its licensed member broker-dealers and the Eastern Caribbean Securities Regulatory Commission.
The competition is open to students in Forms 3 to 5 and first-year tertiary programmes in the ECCU’s eight member countries. Participating schools will compete for the title of Regional Schools Investment Champion.
Before the simulation begins, students will attend a webinar covering investment fundamentals, financial securities and how the Eastern Caribbean securities market operates.
The ECSE said the programme is intended to give students practical experience in applying investment concepts and making financial decisions in a structured educational setting. Schools can find competition details on the exchange’s website.
