Flex Alexander Has Been Trying to Make a ‘One on One’ Reboot Happen for 12 Years, and Kyla Pratt Is Ready

The people have been asking for it. Turns out, so has Flex Alexander. The actor, best known for playing Flex Washington on the UPN sitcom One on One, revealed in a recent clip from the Girl Dad podcast, recorded alongside his daughter Imani, that he has been actively pushing for a reboot of the show for over a decade.

“I’ve been trying for 12 years,” Alexander said. “We’ve been close.” And Kyla Pratt, who played his daughter Breanna on the original series, is not just open to it. She’s already got a title.

Pratt confirmed that she is on board for a revival, but made clear she is not interested in doing it halfway. “This Virgo perfectionist that I have, it has to be great. It has to be perfect,” she said. Still, she was emphatic that the appetite is real and the timing feels right.

Flex even pitched what a modern version of the show could look like. He revealed the working title for the reboot would be More Than One, describing a storyline where Pratt’s character returns home, her real-life daughter joins the cast, and the family dynamics pick right back up with all the familiar tension and heart that made the original so watchable.

Alexander added that his character would have remarried and have a daughter of his own, setting up a classic blended family collision, with a former love interest named Arnaz circling back into the picture for good measure.

The two also pushed back on any skepticism from industry executives who questioned whether the demand was there. “Do you understand the cultural impact that One on One has had?” Alexander said. He pointed out a comparison to the Fuller House reboot and pointed to One on One‘s Netflix run during the pandemic as proof that a whole new generation had discovered it.
