Gunfire Turns Deadly in Jacmel: 27-Year-Old ‘Scooby’ Killed, Two Others Wounded

A late-night shooting in Jacmel, Anse La Raye has left one man dead and two others nursing injuries, as police intensify investigations into the latest act of gun violence.

Officers attached to the Anse La Raye Police Station responded shortly after midnight on Sunday, June 28, following reports of gunfire around 11:56 p.m. on Saturday.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the lifeless body of 27-year-old Jason “Scooby” Francois of Jacmel, who had sustained multiple apparent gunshot wounds. A medical practitioner pronounced him dead at the scene.

The incident also left two other individuals injured. Police have not yet released details on the extent of their injuries or the circumstances that led to the shooting.

The killing adds to growing concerns over gun-related violence and marks another homicide now under active investigation by the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force.

Investigators are urging anyone with information that could assist the case to contact the Anse La Raye Police Station at 456-3600. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the Crime Hotline by dialling 555 or via the Crime Hotline App.

Police say investigations remain ongoing.
