URA and Maroons settled for a draw in a thrilling game played on Tuesday at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo. This was a clash of two teams that have been inconsistent over the course of the season.
URA can only get a maximum of eight League wins this season, that is if they win their remaining four games. This will be their worst tally (in terms of wins) since making their League debut as Lyantonde-URA in 2002.
This excludes the 2005 season that was played in a knockout format.
The only time that URA failed to get at least 10 wins in a campaign was during the 2017/18 season when they registered only 9 wins.
In today’s game, Maroons led twice but URA came back on both occasions to salvage a point in a pulsating 2-2 draw.
Ivan Mayanja headed home in the 22nd minute off Brian Nkuubi’s free kick to give Maroons the lead but the hosts responded three minutes later through Bruno Bunyaga.
In the second half, Darius Ojok restored Maroons lead in what was his first appearance in long time since recovering from an injury.
However, URA once again fought back to level matters, this time through former Maroons forward Fred Amaku.
The result leaves Maroons in eighth place on 34 points while URA are a distant 11th with just 25 points from 26 games.
