Since its launch in March 2026, the Maryland Christian Chamber of Commerce (MDCCC) has hosted networking events, prayer calls and monthly forums. More than 100 businesses have already joined.

Unlike other chambers, MDCCC blends Christian values, like faithfulness and Godly wisdom, with business principles, like innovation and integrity, to advance local entrepreneurs and a shared sense of purpose.

“It’s a resting place, an oasis for business owners who also believe in Christ—where they can feel comfortable coming and talking about that part of who they are,” said Nicole Davis, founder of MDCCC. “They know we’re going to pray together and study biblical principles. They know that our motivation and everything we’re doing is to advance the kingdom, support families and to undergird our spirit, soul and body.”

Davis, who’s spent over two decades in alternative conflict resolution, was initially reluctant to start the organization. But after a chance meeting with the president of the U.S. Christian Chamber of Commerce, Krystal Parker, the seed was planted.

In February 2025, Davis, sensing a transition in her life, prayed on what she should do next. She said the Lord told her to start the MDCCC. It was a call she knew she could not ignore.

In this first year of operation, Davis has already laid out central objectives for the group. Economic development is the foremost priority.

“As Christians we spend a lot of money, but we don’t pull it together to make an impact and have relevance at tables where it matters, like with policy and legislation,” said Davis. “We want to educate people biblically on the importance of not only making the money, but of where you’re spending the money.”

Davis said she eventually wants to establish “Kingdom Commerce” communities across Maryland, in which the chamber will forge connections between churches, nonprofits, businesses, families and local experts to invest in each other.

Other objectives of the MDCCC include policy advocacy around religious rights and freedoms, preserving marriage and family, advancing health and wellness and educating young people.

Kevin Wayne Johnson, CEO of executive coaching firm The Johnson Leadership Group, became interested in joining the MDCCC after learning about it on LinkedIn.

“I went to a couple of events out of curiosity. It was like an interview phase, taking a look at what’s going on and how people are conducting themselves,” said Johnson. “Then, of course, I read the mission, vision and core values, and I thought it would be a good opportunity to connect with other business owners that think, act and move like I do.”

Since joining MDCCC, Johnson said he’s been struck by the level of support among the members and leaders. On one occasion, Tony Davis, Davis’ husband and legislative chair for the MDCCC, came out with his son to support and patronize Johnson during his book signing.

“I’m anticipating, and I believe it will happen, a much higher level of integrity and ethical behavior when it comes to getting things done and people keeping their word,” said Johnson. “That hasn’t always been the case with other organizations.”

The MDCCC has already loaded its calendar with events, like networking extravaganzas, worship nights, legislative lunch-and-learns and date nights, to keep members engaged, motivated and connected. The organization is also continuing to accept new members on a rolling basis, with an application on its website.

Through MDCCC, Davis hopes to help Maryland’s Christian business owners live out their purpose.

“As we build our businesses as entrepreneurs and we think about all of the things we want to accomplish as Christians, above all of that is to make sure that we’re doing what is in alignment with God’s plan for our lives. How sad would it be to realize at the end of it that you did great things, but you didn’t do the things that God had in mind for you?” said Davis. “I don’t think I’ve ever been happier, and I didn’t choose this for myself.”
