Mozambique and Angola have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening cooperation in communications and digital transformation, marking a significant step in enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the 5th National Communications Conference, providing a platform for the two nations to deepen collaboration in the communications sector and advance shared digital transformation goals.
The signing ceremony was attended by Mozambique’s Minister of Communications and Digital Transformation, Américo Muchanga, and Angola’s Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mário Oliveira, who formally endorsed the cooperation agreement.
According to the two governments, the memorandum seeks to strengthen technical and institutional cooperation while promoting the exchange of experiences, expertise, and best practices in communications, digital technologies, and sector regulation.
The agreement also opens new opportunities for strategic partnership in areas such as telecommunications development, regulatory frameworks, digital innovation, and the advancement of digital transformation initiatives in both countries.
Officials said the partnership is expected to contribute to the modernization of the communications sector and support efforts to improve connectivity, strengthen digital infrastructure, and accelerate technological development.
The memorandum further reflects the commitment of Mozambique and Angola to fostering closer bilateral ties and enhancing cooperation in areas that support economic growth, innovation, and digital inclusion.
The signing of the agreement during the 5th National Communications Conference underscores the importance both countries place on regional collaboration as they seek to build resilient digital ecosystems and advance Africa’s digital transformation agenda.
