*NBC has released the official trailer and key art for “Surviving Earth,” a new docuseries that explores the resilience of life across hundreds of millions of years. The series is set to premiere on June 11, bringing viewers into a prehistoric world shaped by extreme environmental change.
According to the news release, the show traces the evolution of life over the past 450 million years, focusing on how species adapted and endured during catastrophic events. Through advanced CGI, “Surviving Earth” recreates ancient ecosystems and introduces creatures ranging from giant sea scorpions to mammoths and sabertooths, offering a visual journey through Earth’s distant past.
The series also highlights the forces that reshaped the planet, including meteor strikes, volcanic eruptions, and dramatic climate shifts. These elements are central to the narrative, illustrating how life not only survived but continued to develop in unpredictable conditions. Watch the trailer above.

Produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio, part of Universal Studio Group, in collaboration with UK-based Loud Minds, the project emphasizes both scientific storytelling and cinematic presentation. The goal is to deliver a detailed look at Earth’s history while maintaining a visually immersive experience.
Ahead of the premiere, NBC will air a two-hour encore of “The Americas: Fun Fact Edition” on June 4. The special presentation serves as a lead-in to the new series, with “Surviving Earth” scheduled to anchor Thursday night programming beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
“The Americas: Fun Fact Edition,” a 10-part series narrated by Tom Hanks, revisits the landscapes and wildlife of North and South America with additional insights and behind-the-scenes details. The series has received recognition from awards groups and features a musical score by Hans Zimmer, blending educational content with high production value.
With its combination of scientific focus and visual storytelling, “Surviving Earth” aims to present a broad look at how life has endured across Earth’s most challenging eras, setting the stage for its debut later this summer.
