A 32 kilowatt solar energy system has been installed at Orealia Kelly Primary School in The Quarter and is providing power for two of its three buildings.
The set-up includes 15.2 kilowatt hours of battery storage and a 11.2kW level two electric vehicle charger on the western block.
Infrastructure minister Jose Vanterpool announced the government education facility’s new renewable energy installation during a press conference on 4 May.

He said a team from Greenology installed the equipment at the end of April as part of an Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) initiative.
The visitors also trained and certified eight people from across several government ministries and departments in the design and maintenance of solar systems.
“The system is now fully functional at the Orealia Kelly Primary School and is currently providing power for two of the three buildings there,” Vanterpool said.
In a wider push towards renewable energy in Anguilla, ANGLEC and the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) have agreed to the terms for a multi-million-dollar loan to fund a 12 megawatt solar farm.
Both parties signed the contract for the renewable energy facility, to be built in Corito, on 1 April.
