Oscar Mabuyane to lead Eastern Cape Women’s Day commemoration
Rantjie, says the event will focus on women's socio-economic empowerment and gender equality.
The Eastern Cape government will commemorate Women’s Day in Despatch in Nelson Mandela Bay this Sunday.
The theme of this year’s provincial event is “Imbokodo: 70 Years of Women’s Power, From Resilience to Transformation”. Premier Oscar Mabuyane is expected to deliver the keynote address.
Provincial Government Spokesperson Khuselwa Rantjie says the event will focus on women’s socio-economic empowerment, gender equality and the fight against gender-based violence and femicide.
“The Provincial Women’s Day Commemoration is not merely a celebration but forms part of a broader Women’s Month programme that honours the legacy of the women of 1956 while reaffirming the provincial government’s commitment to accelerating action towards economic inclusion, social justice, and the empowerment of women across the Eastern Cape.”
