ABBOTSFORD Police say that on Friday night, a 22-year-old man from Surrey, holding a Class 7 N driver’s licence, was observed travelling at 144 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone along Marshall Road near Queen Street.
Abbotsford Police said the man was apparently testing “our roadways like a racetrack.” A patrol officer spotted the excessive speed and conducted a traffic stop, “quickly bringing the unofficial race to an end.”
The driver was issued an excessive speeding ticket, and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. He also had to make alternative plans for getting back to Surrey.
So far this year, police officers have removed 87 excessive speeders from Abbotsford roadways.
