The Peach State’s cinematic pulse was thumping louder than ever this week as the 50th Annual Atlanta Film Festival (ATLFF) took over the city. But the crown jewel of the eleven-day celebration? The IMAGE Film Awards Gala, held at the sprawling new Assembly Atlanta.

The red carpet wasn’t just a walkway; it was a runway of Black excellence, creative grit, and Hollywood royalty. Sheen Magazine was front and center as the industry’s heavy hitters gathered to honor the architects of the “Hollywood of the South.”

When Will Packer stepped onto the carpet, the atmosphere shifted. The powerhouse producer, known for redefining the Black cinematic experience with hits like Girls Trip and Ride Along, was honored for his monumental contributions to the industry. Speaking with him, his message was clear: Atlanta isn’t just a filming location; it’s the heartbeat of the culture. Packer looked every bit the mogul, reminding us why he remains the gold standard for success in this industry..

The night’s honoree list read like a masterclass in versatility, beginning with the arrival of David Cross and Carrie Preston. Cross, a Georgia native, and the incomparable Preston, fresh off her Elsbeth success, brought a touch of whimsical prestige to the carpet, with Preston glowing under the camera flashes as she shared her deep appreciation for the festival’s commitment to independent voices. The recognition continued with Randy Davidson, the founder of Georgia Entertainment, who was honored for his tireless work behind the scenes bridging the gap between the business of film and the art of storytelling. Rounding out the powerhouse lineup was Alex Orr, the legendary producer and director and a staple of the Atlanta indie scene, who was celebrated for his Blood Car legacy and his instrumental role in building the local infrastructure that Georgia creators now thrive on.

From the shimmering gowns to the sharp tailoring, the gala felt like a family reunion for the elite. Between the clinking of glasses and the “unfiltered” laughs shared during our interviews, one thing became certain: the Atlanta Film Festival isn’t just celebrating 50 years of history, it’s laying the groundwork for the next 50.

As the lights dimmed and the awards were handed out, the message of the night was simple: Keep creating. Keep dreaming. And keep it Atlanta. For more red carpet coverage and exclusive interviews, keep it locked on SHEENTV.
