The Tsumeb municipality has once again started with interventions to stop the ongoing illegal land activities experienced in the Kuvukiland informal settlement area.
Over the years, the municipality has been experiencing recurring challenges fuelled by a lack of serviced residential land and a severe shortage of housing.
In a public notice released on Tuesday, the municipality says the illegal land grabbing is extending towards the main entrance road into Tsumeb from the direction of Grootfontein and Otavi.
In collaboration with the Namibian police, they have started with operations to put a stop to the land grabbing.
“The affected land is unserviced and not approved for settlement. All individuals involved are instructed to cease immediately and vacate any unlawfully occupied land. Furthermore, residents are strongly urged to refrain from participating in or supporting these illegal activities and to use only official municipal channels for land applications. Further violations will result in legal enforcement action without further notice,” the municipality states.
