DAR ES SALAAM: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has instructed the Tanzania Police Force to strengthen its ability to detect and respond to security threats at an early stage, warning against ignoring warning signs that could endanger national peace and stability.
Speaking during the graduation ceremony of police officers and assistant inspectors at Kurasini in Dar es Salaam on Thursday, May 28, 2026, President Samia said the country had learnt important lessons from the October 29 incident, which exposed weaknesses in responding to potential threats.
The Head of State noted that Tanzania’s long-standing reputation as a peaceful and secure nation should not lead security agencies into underestimating risks or dismissing intelligence reports.
“We want to see a police force that does not ignore any information or danger signs, and one that acts swiftly whenever threats emerge,” she said.
The President, however, commended defence and security organs for successfully containing the October 29 incident within a short period, saying the experience should strengthen preparedness in the future.
She further stressed the importance of close cooperation and information sharing among security agencies to improve early detection and response to security threats.
