Channeling the spirit of Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Goin’ On,” EJ urges listeners to look inside themselves, singing “Listen, you find a good love you got to keep it/Tell me why we gotta act hard, like we don’t need it.” He, too, could fall victim to his circumstances (“I lost my mama to the streets / I lost my daddy to the streets… I got every reason to be mad at the whole world”) but begs us all to avoid the temptations of hate and to choose to love another instead.
