Hussein Mohammed, president of the Kenyan Football Federation, was suspended on April 24 by the NEC over alleged financial misconduct.
In addition to Hussein Mohammed, Secretary General Dennis Gicheru and NEC member Abdullahi Yussuf Ibrahim have also been suspended following allegations of fraud involving 42.48 million Kenyan shillings approximately 300,000 euros related to the purchase of insurance coverage for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The NEC has appointed Mohammed’s vice president, McDonald Mariga, to serve as interim president pending the conclusion of the investigation into the alleged fraud.
