Libya coach Dabo expects tough encounter against Uganda

Libya National Team Head Coach Youssoupha Dabo expects a tough challenge from Uganda as the two teams face off on Tuesday at the Hoima City Stadium in the 2027 AFCON PAMOJA Qualifiers.

The Mediterranean Knights seek an improvement from the draw they got against Botswana in the first leg but coach Dabo believes it will be a tough challenge against Uganda Cranes.

“We are here to play and win but we know it will be a tough game against a very good side that has been together for some time now,” he stated.

Dabo who was an assistant to Aliou Cisse and took over when the latter left in July believes they have to build on the second half performance they had against Botswana.

“I know we had a sloppy start against Botswana and conceded twice in the first half but if there is anything I can pick from that match, it is the fighting spirit the players put up in the second half and if we can replicate that here, it will be good for us.”

The coach is also aware this is the first game for Uganda Cranes at the Hoima City stadium and he says they would want to win there.

“I’m aware this is a new stadium and this will be the first game for Uganda here. Of course everyone would want to win such a game for the fans but we also come here with an intention of getting a good result and we will be glad is we win here.”

Uganda and Libya are in Group H that also has Tunisia and Botswana. It should be noted that only one team will qualify from this group because Uganda already qualified as hosts of the 2027 AFCON.
