Museveni to Address Parliament Amid Among Explosive Corruption Probe

President Yoweri Museveni is expected to address Parliament on corruption following the election of a new Speaker and Deputy Speaker at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

The anticipated address comes against the backdrop of an intensifying corruption probe involving former Speaker Anita Annet Among, who has been under house arrest for nearly 10 days.

The investigation dramatically escalated on May 22, 2026, when security operatives descended on Among’s home village in Bukedea, signalling a widening crackdown in what is shaping into one of the country’s most high-profile corruption cases.

The operation followed a joint raid by police and military officers on Among’s parliamentary offices a day earlier. Authorities sealed off the fifth floor of the North Wing, declaring it an active crime scene as detectives combed through documents, computers, and other critical materials.

Earlier searches conducted on May 16 targeted Among’s residences in Nakasero, Kigo, and Ntinda, where investigators reportedly seized key evidence.

The probe has since extended to the home of her husband, Moses Magogo, suggesting that investigators are broadening the scope of the inquiry.

Security agencies have also impounded six vehicles linked to Among, including a Rolls-Royce and a Range Rover from her Kigo residence, as well as a Mercedes-Benz, two Toyota Land Cruisers, and a Lexus recovered from her Nakasero home.

The unfolding developments continue to send shockwaves through the political establishment, with more revelations expected as the investigation deepens.
