The Real Housewives of Atlanta (RHOA) returns Sunday, April 5 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo for season 17, showcasing Atlanta’s affluent Black women known for spilling piping-hot tea and throwing shade. Joining the cast are platinum-selling singer and reality TV star K. Michelle (previously on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop and K. Michelle: My Life) and Pinky Cole, founder of the viral plant-based restaurant chain Slutty Vegan.
Recent news broke of Pinky’s RHOA debut coinciding with her business’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, igniting a viral debate on social media this week.

The Power Move or Last Resort?
The debates popped off over on Threads when news broke of the entrepreneur’s February Chapter 11 filing. Public documents revealed a $1.4 million in debt, which included $1.2 million to the U.S. Small Business Administration for a COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) and $192,000 to the Georgia Department of Revenue, as reported by the Tallahassee Democrat (Feb. 12 filing reviewed by USA TODAY).
The internet continues to weigh in on brand accountability, rapid expansion, and mismanagement, leading to discussions about how Black-owned brands are scrutinized differently compared to white-owned brands when facing financial difficulties.

Many are also debating whether RHOA is the right platform for her at this moment. On one hand, it can give her brand free publicity during a crucial restructuring period. On the other hand, the show exposes every personal and business misstep to public scrutiny, inviting judgment around mismanagement and decision‑making.

Who’s Still Holding the Peach?
The returning members Porsha Williams, Phaedra Parks, Drew Sidora, Shamea Morton Mwangi, Angela Oakley, and Kelli Ferrell are anticipated to bring the kinda heat that could make cobbler, reminding viewers why RHOA is the most watched in the franchise’s history… and let’s not forget NeNe Leakes returns via spinoff Ultimate Road Trip with a RHOA pop‑up stop during the season.
Kenya Moore left during filming in June 2024 following an indefinite suspension tied to an on‑set incident with newcomer Brit Eady, who later confirmed her own departure after just one season. Longtime cast members Marlo Hampton, Shereé Whitfield, and Sanya Richards‑Ross all bowed out before the next season of RHOA. Kandi Burruss announced in February 2024 that she would not return after 14 seasons to focus on other projects and family, and is currently going through a very public divorce from husband Todd Tucker after 11 years of marriage. Fans are excited to hear K. Michelle and Pinky Cole‑Hayes will be joining.
Will Season 17 bring more women empowerment or signature RHOA cattiness? Hmm… Let us know in the comments!
