Three in custody after N$1 million cannabis bust near Keetmanshoop

The police intercepted a truck allegedly carrying N$1 million worth of cannabis on Friday.

The truck was travelling on the Grunau road outside Keetmanshoop and intercepted around 17h00.

“Following an intelligence-led operation, it is alleged that the police intercepted a truck conveying cannabis valued at over N$1 million towards Keetmanshoop,” national police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi says.

Three men, aged 36, 41 and 47 were arrested and placed in police custody.

They were expected to appear in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

The long weekend also saw police arresting a 23-year-old for drug possession at the Okapuka road traffic checkpoint as well as a man (43) at Okuryangava for growing cannabis in his yard.
