Aza Lineage’s debut album coming soon!

Aza Lineage is dropping her debut album, Rebel Daawta, on June 19. She’s known as a serious talent straight out of Kingston who has been building a reputation for her conscious lyrics and deep connection to authentic sound system culture. For this 17-track project, she teamed up with the absolute legend King Jammy. Jammy is the dubmaster who learned from King Tubby and basically changed the entire landscape of reggae and dancehall in the 1980s. He opened up his iconic vaults for Aza, letting her lay down modern stories over his classic foundation riddims.

The record has some great features on it, including Johnny Osbourne, Jesse Royal, Brandon Rootz, and an intro from veteran deejay Lone Ranger. Tracks like Rebels In Town and Sound System really showcase how she balances sharp social awareness with great energy. Aza mentioned that working with Jammy in the studio really sharpened her skills and helped her grow as an artist.

The night before the release, on Thursday, June 18, she is performing the album live at the Crown Hill Theater in Brooklyn. Boston roots artists Mighty Mystic and MediSun are joining her, along with Kulcha Kartel and Vaughn All Star from WKCR 89.9FM.
