(AURN News) — A new website tied to the collapse of Spirit Airlines is gaining traction as supporters push an effort to bring the carrier back.
The site, “Let’s Buy Spirit Air,” says the campaign has generated $132 million in total pledges, with 133,508 individual pledges recorded.
The average pledge size is listed at $989.
The group’s stated goal is to raise $1.75 billion to acquire and relaunch the airline.
The pledges are described as “subject to change,” and the site does not indicate that funds have been formally collected.
Spirit Airlines ceased operations earlier this month after more than 30 years in business.
The website outlines a plan to revive the airline through a broad base of supporters, though it remains unclear whether the funding target or acquisition effort can be achieved.
