(AURN News) — A new national Ipsos report on women of color paints a troubling picture of the nation and trust in government.
Sixty-five percent of Black, Hispanic and Asian women surveyed say the country is headed in the wrong direction, while nearly seven in 10 say their trust in the federal government has worsened over the past year.
The biggest concern is affordability. Eighty-nine percent say they are worried about the cost of living. Nearly 80% are concerned about health care costs, and many say they have delayed major life decisions, including seeking medical care, having children, buying homes and even marriage because of the economy.
The report also reveals a growing political warning sign: Sixty-four percent say traditional political parties do not care about people like them, and only 40% believe their voice matters in the political process.
Researchers say women of color increasingly feel exhausted, unheard and economically squeezed.
